While I have created a few Indian weddings with touches here and there I can honestly say this is the first Indian wedding where I a) learned A TON about all sorts of things I never knew before and b) handled more than the Ceremony itself. I can honestly say that creating Preya & Maulik’s wedding with them was absolutely joyful and filled with plenty of laughter and a lot of “why won’t these designers do the colors we want?!” There were so many events and different elements that I loved but if I had to choose just a few of my favorite ones they would probably be: the colorful lighting and aspect of the Mehendi night. The ambiance was just really chic and hip at night and the Moroccan/Mexican theme that they had chosen for this event blended-in perfectly. For the Ceremony – I loved the benches. LOVED them. I wanted to create the sensation of coming into a sacred space and honestly wood benches just have such a timeless spiritual feel to them. As to the Reception – I wish that we had a great photograph of the table markers – they actually had holes drilled in them just like the constellation name and with the candles behind them at night they looked amazing – huge shout-out to my hubby who made them. Maulik loves the stars and I had such a fun time taking that idea but keeping the party elegant and timeless. I also loved the hand-painted pillows my sister-in-law, Yazmin, created as well as the Ikat napkins I found the pattern for and my hubby sewed for the sweetheart table. Honestly, the sweetheart table and set-up is probably one of my all-time favorites.
